Career:
Matthew read law at Anglia University and trained as a solicitor in Somerset before joining Downs on qualification in 2000. He became an Associate in 2003, head of the department and in July 2005, a Partner.
Specialisms:
Matthew covers all areas of employment law. He has a special interest in advising companies on employee rights associated with redundancy and business sale/outsourcing (TUPE). He was involved in the landmark case of Rutherford v Harvest Town Circle, dealing with executive level disputes and has had particular experience of public interest disclosure dismissals (whistle blowing).
