Downs has a rapidly growing specialist leisure sector. We are able to provide advice in connection with the acquisition and disposal of all licensed premises including pubs, hotels, catering, restaurants, golf clubs and health clubs.

Susan Scott, one of our partners, is the recommended property lawyer for members of the British Institute of Innkeeping, having some 25 years experience in associated property matters in this field. She also has a number of contacts with specialist surveyors, accountants and bankers within the sector.

We have experts in the related areas of licensing and employment as well as a familiarity with the procedures and documentation of the various pubcos and brewers. Angus Storer deals with complex licensing cases and is experienced in applications and hearings under the 2003 Licensing Act. Our commercial department can advise on any issues relating to the retention/licensing of names and logos and our corporate department deals regularly with both share and asset transfers.

Nicola O’Dwyer, from our employment department, advises many clients in this sector on employment issues particularly to golf/health clubs, pubs/restaurants and the catering sector.
