Last year 's charity fundraising craze was the Ice Bucket Challenge and it certainly took the world by storm. This year's challenge is all about testing your fitness levels through the 22 Push Up Challenge. The challenge has certainly captured people's imagination and whilst it is a bit of fun, it does have a seroius message.
The challenge which was created by US charity, Honor Courage Commitment, aims to raise awareness about the difficulties ex-military personnel have integrating back into society. Since the start of 2016, the challenge has been gathering a large following with people doing 22 push-ups and then donating to veteran mental health charities, such as Combat Stress.
Dorking Rugby Club's men's first and second XV teams took up the challenge as part of the charity fundraiser organised by Downs Solicitors and Dorking Rugby Club on Saturday 27 August. The afternoon was organised to raise funds for both the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity and Combat Stress, the UK’s leading mental health charity for veterans, providing free specialist clinical treatment and support to ex-servicemen and women across the UK with mental health conditions.
The players were joined in the 22 Push Up Challenge by the Coldstream Guards rugby team. They certainly make it look easy!
