Simone Horrobin



Simone specialises in commercial litigation and insolvency matters.

She advises corporate and individual clients on a range of issues including contractual claims, cross border disputes and enforcement of judgments, debt and asset recovery, civil fraud claims, contentious intellectual property matters and property disputes.

Simone also acts for commercial clients, individuals and Insolvency Practitioners in relation to matters of insolvency, bankruptcy and liquidation.

Languages: French, Japanese and Russian.

Simone has an interest and love of Japan which began as a child having spent several years with her family living in Yokohama. She attended her first school, a Japanese kindergarten and started learning Japanese.

She later studied Japanese at the University of Leeds and graduated with a BA in Japanese and Russian. During her time at University, Simone spent 6 months studying Japanese at Kansai Gaidai University (関西外大) in Osaka and a year in Tokyo at Gakushuin University (学習院女子大学). She has also spent time studying Russian at Moscow State University and in Tokyo at Waseda University (早稲田大学) and Sophia University (上智大学).

Following graduation, Simone worked in an all Japanese personnel office in London for JSPS (日本学術振興会), a quasi governmental organisation under the auspices of the Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (文部科学省) before qualifying as a solicitor in 2009.

Simone continues to pursue her interest in Japan and the Japanese language through her legal career and is a member of the British Japanese Law Association.  Simone is also involved in the activities of the British Japanese Parliamentary Group which was established to build upon and improve diplomatic, business and cultural relations between Britain and Japan and in particular, between the British and Japanese communities here in Britain.
