Some important changes have been announced by Companies House to the way users access WebFiling services. Here is everything you need to know about the upcoming changes and what you need to do now to prepare.
What is WebFiling used for?
The current Companies House WebFiling is used by companies to file accounts or confirmation statements. It can also be used to make changes to your company details, or close the business completely.
If you use WebFiling, then you will need to be aware of some changes that will begin to take effect this month as this will affect all users who currently file company documents online.

What is changing?
From 13 October 2025, you will need to use GOV.UK One Login to sign in to your Companies House WebFiling account. You’ll be prompted to connect you WebFiling account to GOV.UK One Login - if you don’t already have a GOV.UK One Login, you’ll be asked to create one as part of that process.
Once linked, you’ll be able to use your GOV.UK One Login credentials to access your WebFiling account every time you sign in. You’ll no longer be able to use WebFiling without linking your GOV.UK One Login.
From 15th November, Companies House will fully transition to this new system.
What you need to do now
- To ensure you can continue filing after the change takes effect, there are a few things you can do right now to keep things running smoothly.
- Check your WebFiling email address – and make sure the email you use to sign in is up to date and that you have access to it.
- Link your GOV.UK One Login now – if you have one already, connect it to your Companies House account as soon as possible. You can create a GOV.UK One Login on the website at www.gov.uk/one-login
- Use the same email addresses where possible – if you have a Companies House account for “Find and Update Company Information”, use the same email for both as this helps keep your access smooth and consistent.
- Every company director will need their own GOV.UK One Login and must upload identification to receive a unique number. This unique ID will be required for us (or any authorised agent) to file on your behalf. Without it, we will not be able to submit filings for you.
Dates for your diary
- 13 October 2025: Linking to GOV.UK One Login becomes mandatory for WebFiling.
- 15 November 2025: Companies House will fully transition to the new login system.
Why are the changes taking place?
The move to GOV.UK One Login is designed to make it easier, faster, and more secure for customers to access Companies House services.
This change marks an important step in improving the security and transparency of company filings in the UK.
GOV.UK One Login brings together multiple government services under one secure account, making it easier to manage your business information safely.
