As a consultant solicitor, Liz advises on Private Client matters including Wills and Probate, Lasting Powers of Attorney, Deputyship and Court of Protection Applications. Liz has a particular interest and expertise in mental capacity issues. Liz provides help, support, guidance, and holistic advice to vulnerable clients and their families.

Liz is regularly appointed as an attorney by clients, (as in  Lasting Powers of Attorney), including in relation to health and welfare. Liz also acts as a Deputy appointed by the Court of Protection. As of 2024, Liz is the only Law Society Health and Welfare Accredited Legal Representative, ‘ALR’ in Surrey. This allows Liz to be appointed by the Court of Protection as an ALR to ensure that vulnerable people who lack capacity have representation in welfare related Court of Protection proceedings.

Liz provides advice to both lay attorneys and deputies and helps them to understand their role and issues arising, including in relation to care funding, sourcing care, care home contracts, and arranging independent assessments, as may be needed.

Liz is a fully accredited member if the Association of Lifetime Lawyers, (formerly Solicitors for the Elderly), is the honorary solicitor for Age Concern Epsom and Ewell and is on the Mencap panel of specialist solicitors. Liz provides in-house training at Downs to raise awareness of capacity issues for all departments and those we seek to guide and support.

Liz regularly presents to doctors, social services, charitable organisations, and offers support to a local rare dementia group, in particular, in relation to frontotemporal lobe dementia. Liz is a Dementia Champion for the Alzheimer’s Society.

Liz is an affiliate member of STEP (the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners) and holds the STEP certificate in Will preparation.

Liz holds a diploma in Notarial Practice from Cambridge University. As an independent Notary Public for 15 years, Liz provides a full range of Notarial services to both companies and individuals.

Outside of work Liz enjoys time with her family and Hearing Dog Nala,  and is a volunteer speaker for Hearing Dogs for Deaf People.
